RSPB Bempton Cliffs

I have volunteered to spend my Sundays assisting the RSPB on the viewpoints at Bempton Cliffs. What could be better than spending the day at one of my favourite reserves, watching some of my favourite birds, on a brilliant day weather wise, albeit a "challenging" easterly blow? It was nice to arrive at the Grandstand viewing point to see c1000 Guillemots on the ledges, including several Bridled Guillemots. Unfortunately, they departed back out to sea by lunchtime denying later visitors this pleasure.

Four Gannets graced the ledges but again departed out to sea, leaving many flyby birds for the afternoon.

I do love Fulmars and today I was treated to an aerial display with birds hanging in the sky, as if on puppet strings, against the "challenging" easterly blow!
