RSPB Bempton Cliffs

View from "Grandstand" towards Filey & Scarborough

I have volunteered my Sundays to assist visitors on the viewpoints at RSPB Bempton Cliffs. (Heather is volunteering on Tuesdays). Today I spent an enjoyable seven hours on the Grandstand viewpoint, meeting some delightful people and imparting information on the birds present. I have to say that the weather was great, the breeze was seasonally fresh and good views were had of storms approaching the land, all of which kindly missed me!

Storm Approaching! The strength of the wind mean't that the sleet arrived long before the dark clouds. Seeing this one decided me to have lunch and coffee at the visitor centre!

Storm Hitting Filey & Scarborough and just missing Bempton!

Bird-wise, c1000 Guillemots on the cliffs either side of Grandstand, but quickly departing back to sea; c20 Fulmar; Many Gannets at sea with 4 on the ledges; Kestrel; Barn Owl behind viewpoint. At least two Harbour Porpoise at sea.
