A "Reflective Couple of Hours at Thornwick Pool, Flamborough

Wood Sandpiper

Symphony was booked in at Flamborough for a grooming session which gave me a couple of hours to spend at Thornwick pool. Quite a number of birders were present, coincidental and nothing at all to do with a Little Stint and Wood Sandpiper being present! It was a good morning for me as the Little Stint was a year tick, the Wood Sandpiper a two year tick and I also spotted two juvenile Cuckoos, having only heard an adult bird this year. The water was flat calm, the surface only being broken by some (very) large Carp, giving an ideal "reflective" opportunity in photographing the birds. I did wish I had my 500mm lens but due to limited space in the van, I had to make do with my 400mm, meaning some heavily cropped images.
