A Good Morning at Napton Reservoir

Ring Ouzel

Today I had hoped to visit quiet waters and chose Napton Reservoir, which, yesterday held a drake Mandarin Duck. I arrived at the same time as Martin S and Paul C who headed around the larger side, while I walked across the causeway towards the canal. While I was taking images of Mute Swan and Great Crested Grebe, I ticked my first Willow Warbler of the year before noticing urgent gestures from Paul and Martin who had only gone and located a very obliging male Ring Ouzel! I was with them in minutes, filling my boots with Ring Ouzel Images together with my third year tick of the day, a male Yellow Wagtail! It was a pity I couldn't locate the Mandarin, as that would also have been a year tick. So much for quiet waters! My species list is located at the end of this post.
