Draycote Water - 15th August 2014

Common Sandpiper

I needed to motivate myself and get out into the fresh air so Draycote Water was my destination for a walk to Toft and back. Not a lot of excitement but happy to see two Common Sandpipers along Farborough Bank and a Dunlin being flushed into Toft shallows. Four Little Egrets were dispersed along the shoreline and trees between Toft and Biggin Bay. Several adult and juvenile Yellow Wagtails were along Farborough Bank and at least nine Common Terns (inc juvs) favoured the fishing pontoon area. A Peregrine over and Buzzard but missed the Osprey (reported by the Rangers fishing) seen during the afternoon.
