Draycote Water - Smew and Goldeneye

Goldeneye

You could have been lead to believe you were at the seaside and not Draycote Water this morning, with the very strong wind causing high waves and breakers! (Unfortunately with the current weather systems, waves at the seaside are mahoosive and those affected are in my thoughts). I had not seen the drake Smew on recent visits and today it was very flighty along Farborough Bank and quite difficult to pin down! The Goldeneye are a little easier, but still difficult to focus on due to the wind buffeting my equipment (despite its weight!).

Thanks Keith. One of my favourites. Will probably be on its way soon!

Had similar issues getting sharp shots with the Smew bobbing about all over the place , you got some corners here

Cheers Andrew. I found the 500mm setup quite challenging in the wind! Also,I think my Kenko 1.4 is a bit slow. Can't afford a Canon but its on my wish list!
