Rutland Water Ospreys

The Osprey nest and family in Manton Bay

I hang my head in shame! I have not seen an Osprey in two years! To remedy this, I stood at Manton Bridge, Rutland Water, to view them at their nest pole. The birds made the occasional flights to catch fish, but were very distant. I apologise (or maybe I don't!) for the attached, heavily cropped images! Great to catch up with them in a guaranteed location!

I'll have to lend you my 500mm with my 2 times convertor. Well worth the effort, Kevin. I have just spent 2 days at Cors Dyfi to see the ospreys and didn't get one shot.

I have promised myself a 500mm with converter as a retirement present in a couple of years!

Hi Kevin, the Ospreys are superb records, I did the same as you only last Sunday, started at Eye Brook (2 Ospreys)followed by the rest of the day at Rutland ending the day in the last Manton bay hide. The adults did come close a few times. My shots however weren't much cop!

Hi Steve, I couldn't face the walk from Lyndon to the hides so was happy to watch from Manton Bridge! When I get my "big" lens...................
(wishful thinking!).
