Cannock Chase

Fallow Deer

Birthdays are not just a day of celebration but also a time for quiet reflection and memories of a lifetime of joy. Thinking of my dear Mum on what would have been her birthday. RIP Mum.

Having been incapacitated for a month, I have been trying to catch up with summer migrants and headed over to Cannock Chase full of hope! The forecast seemed reasonable and was the first disappointment when I arrived at Seven Springs car park, with light rain falling! I decided to walk from Seven Springs to the Stepping Stones in the hope of Tree Pipit, Redstart, Pied Flycatcher and possibly Wood Warbler. Well two out four was not too bad, I suppose! Tree Pipits seemed quite abundant in comparison to the almost devoid bird life on my walk! I was as surprised as the Fallow Deer when we met along one of the felled areas! Guess who forgot his map? and guess who took the wrong route? and guess who got lost? I think I hobbled double my planned distance!

A wrong turn has to be considered a result when you get Treepipit and Redstarts, hope all is well.

Any view of a Redstart is worth it Kevin.
