Shustoke Reservoir

Reports of a summer plumaged Black Necked Grebe at Shustoke Reservoir begged me to head in that direction, hoping that it would still be present. I headed towards a group of assembled birders viewing the reservoir from the car park. Unfortunately, the Grebe was not located so a walk east was order of the day. The Grebe was located and led us a merry dance, being very mobile, diving for long periods and basically always appearing either in the middle or at the furthest point from where we were watching! It was clear that photographs would be poor quality due to distance (my excuse!) and I apologise for the following record shots!

While hoping for the Black Necked Grebe to (hopefully) come closer, a Great Crested Grebe caught by attention as it caught a fish.

Back in the car park, the delightful Kath put me onto a Cuckoo, but by the time I got my camera ready, it decided to fly!
