Lindisfarne 29th May 2011

A day spent exploring Lindisfarne (Holy Island) was a "challenge" in the gale force winds that on occasions nearly toppled you over! Needless to say, bird watching was "difficult" with little to be seen. The castle provided Fulmar and Rock Dove with the shore line sheltering many Eider Ducks.

Eider Ducks ( Cuddy's Ducks or St Cuthberts Ducks)

The sheltered areas of the churchyard contained a family of Song Thrushes one of which obligingly allowed a photograph to be taken.

Heather getting in on the action!

Unfortunately, the very strong winds whipped up sea water from beyond the causeway. This picture was a good hour after the safe crossing time!
