Wells next the Sea 11th September 2010

Main aim here was a fish and chip supper from "French's"! However, sitting on the harbour side beyond the tourist honeypot, some good and unexpected birds materialised. A solitary Grey Plover held its own among the Oystercatchers, and a Kingfisher tried its luck in the depleted harbour water and a Yellow Legged Gull appeared with the more common Herring Gulls. A solitary large wader drew my attention with the expectation of it being a Black Tailed Godwit. However, it turned out to be a Bar Tailed Godwit. As well as a number of good birds, the fish and chips were also excellent!
