Draycote Water

A day off (!) so it was Draycote this morning, arriving at 0800 and walking the perimeter. Although the weather was "spring like", (I think even Max would have enjoyed!), there was still a "hint" of coolness on the exposed banks. Unfortunately the walk did not produce anything exciting so I concentrated on taking pics of commoner species. Met up with Bob H and Richard M near the valve tower and they were also struggling to find anything new (the fact that they caught me up indicates a complete lack of interesting birds!).

The wildfowl numbers were very low . On the water, two Great Northern Divers were still present and distant, a Yellow Legged Gull was found with the Lesser Black Backed and Herring Gulls. Raptor wise, Buzzard, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk graced the skies. It was nice to get a year tick in the form of two Goldcrests near Grays Barn. No summer migrants as yet (they will wait until I am at work!).

A list of species below pics.

Pied Wagtail

Great Crested Grebe
